Splash of Color

I suffer from severe depression and have been extremely agoraphobic for over a year now, so I am in my home almost all of the time. Somehow spring arrived early unbeknownst to me. Yesterday, after much urging by my husband and the people on the TV, I went outside. It was only for about three minutes, and just across the street, but outside nonetheless. I am not a nature person, but I was totally struck by the beauty and vibrance of the flowers and trees, and the strong floral scent. It is hard to imagine that all of that is right outside my door. In a way it made me feel even more detached, and my fuzzy head felt even fuzzier. Hopefully it will improve, and the next time out will be for four minutes or five, and I’ll take it from there.

I used my DSLR with a lensbaby lens to give the cherry blossom a paint drop effect, and the chaotic feeling of going out into the world when you are stuck inside your mind and/or home.

Wonderful image! I hope the beauty of springtime will encourage and reward you for getting outside a bit more.

The image does a great job of conveying the sensory overload you must have felt. It’s a great picture, I hope you get out and about to take some more…

I understand how you feel and admire your strength to go outside when it is most difficult to do so. And I love this photo. Just beautiful.

I work at a camera store and we sell the Lensbaby lenses. I have seen the pictures that they promote in their brochure; but I can tell you that this picture is more amazing than I can put into words! I am so happy that you made the decision to step outside for a bit to snap this wonderful photograph! I believe that every photograph tells a story; whether it be a part of your life, feelings, or even a moment. When you touch other peoples lives and feelings with a gorgeous photograph, you know you did something right….and boy oh boy did you do something right! Good luck and I can’t wait to see more work from you!

Kudos to you for going out side!! Such a wonderful time of year to take in what Mother Nature has to offer. I saw your photo in the thumbnail and thought it was so pretty. I love the colours and the effect you did, it is a wonderful way to express just how we feel when we go out doors. I suffer from the same, although I’m able to get out now ( as long as some one is with me). It also took quite some time to get were I’m at…and you will get there too. Beautiful photo!!
