Photo taken by Jim, a man from Texas who has struggled with depression for much of his life.
About the photo:
Sometimes Struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If we were to go through life without any obstacles,
It would cripple us.
We would not be as strong as we could have been
And we could never fly.
So next time you are faced with an obstacle,
A challenge, or a problem,
Struggle a little- then fly.
Shantanu
“I sat in the comfort of my rocking chair under cover from the heat. At first the noise distracted my escape of morning reading and meditation. But then I looked into all the racket, and found that the perfect image of struggle was across the street rather than in my own head.
We all have struggles. It is personal and as big or small as we make it, but we must move on past the dust and disgust.
You will have struggles on your journey, that is how you grow.”

Struggle to struggle, be a Marine!
Excellent photograph. Profound. Thank you
As someone who’s suffered from depression, this is a pretty good picture of what it feels like! And, yes, it’s important to remember that there’s value in the struggle, it’s not for naught.
LOVE !!
Absolutely incredible…that photo is wonderful!

I would never have thought that an image that I took from my front porch would strike such a chord with so many folks…..that is lifting me more than any of my meds ever have. I feel so validated by all you good people. Let’s all keep up our private battles against all that attacks us……….we shall overcome…….shalom en theos….jim
This is so encouraging for someone who has a family member who struggles with this.
The prose are as beautiful as the photo!
‘But then I looked into all the racket, and found that the perfect image of struggle was across the street rather than in my own head.’
Thank you. This is just the type of post I needed to read from someone other than myself. I am going through some struggles of my own and keep chanting to myself that “obstacles are good, obstacles are good.” Yet, sometimes, it’s just not enough to tell yourself this. It’s good to get out of your own box and realize that others are struggling too.

Great photo and message. It is so true that struggles make us strong, it’s just such a shame that they have to be…well, …such a struggle.
