About this photo: “I used to love to travel. To explore and photograph new places. But as my depression and social anxiety have gotten worse over the last 10 years, it has stopped being possible. I still try to get away a bit, but it must be closer to home now. This photograph was taken at a zoo in Florida. I know it is not the photo one would expect from a zoo, such as a panda or tiger, but I was feeling overwhelmed so I left my little group and just stood at this spot looking up. I reveled in the simplicity and beauty of the foliage I was not used to. I traveled great distances in my mind there, while alone and enjoying a peaceful moment. I hope to be able to travel again for real, but for now I will take the little moments as I can find them.”
